

Summer sounds fill the library
On Tuesday night the Rockridge branch welcomed a cellist from the Oakland Symphony for an instrument "petting zoo" event. The professional musician was joined by two high school music students on violin and flute. The trio played a few short pieces and introduced the four families of symphony instruments: woodwinds, strings, percussion and brass. The musicians explained how each family creates sound from vibrations in it's own way. Some volunteers from the audience were bold

June Election Brings Renewed Commitment to the Library
The Friends of the Rockridge Library, the Oakland Public Library, and library supporters and users across the city were ecstatic with the news that Measure D passed with almost 77% of the vote. Oaklanders agreed that libraries are cornerstones of our vibrant neighborhoods, and we’re so pleased people came out to support the library with their votes.
