

Summer sounds fill the library
On Tuesday night the Rockridge branch welcomed a cellist from the Oakland Symphony for an instrument "petting zoo" event. The professional musician was joined by two high school music students on violin and flute. The trio played a few short pieces and introduced the four families of symphony instruments: woodwinds, strings, percussion and brass. The musicians explained how each family creates sound from vibrations in it's own way. Some volunteers from the audience were bold


Furry friends at the library are so much more
If you were lucky enough to visit the Rockridge Library this morning, you likely saw lots of furry friends in the parking lot and even more happy young faces. Funded by the Friends of the Rockridge Library, the library organized a popular petting zoo where some of our littlest neighbors had an opportunity to get up close and personal to animals they never see on the streets of Oakland.
